The Book of the Dead

A young noblewoman named Iratsume slips into a trance after copying Buddhist sutras and wanders into a remote temple forbidden to women. There, she awakens the ghost of Prince Otsu, who was executed long ago. Otsu’s spirit mistakes Iratsume for one of her ancestors-a woman who witnessed his execution. The prince’s final memory before death was her face, and now, tormented by that lingering image, his ghost finds no peace.
