Sixteen-year-old Yuuta Okkotsu is a quiet, bullied teenager with an unusual problem-violent incidents keep happening around him. The cause is Rika Orimoto, a monstrous curse tied to Yuuta’s past that brutally retaliates against anyone who harms him. Though Rika is a deadly force, she’s also a painful reminder of Yuuta’s childhood trauma. His situation draws the attention of Satoru Gojou, a powerful sorcerer who teaches at Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School. Gojou believes Yuuta can learn to control Rika’s power and use it for good, but fitting in isn’t easy. Yuuta’s classmates-Toge Inumaki, who rarely speaks; Maki Zenin, a skilled fighter; and Panda-are all more experienced, leaving him feeling out of place. During missions, Yuuta fumbles with Rika’s overwhelming strength, leaving destruction in their wake. This catches the eye of Suguru Getou, a cunning curse user who wants Rika’s power for himself. Getou plans to wipe out all non-sorcerers, forcing Yuuta and his friends to band together and stop him before his genocidal scheme becomes reality.
