Magnet Robot Gakeen

Dr. Kazuki, anticipating an invasion of Earth by the Izaru, constructs a robot using the principles of magnetism and sphere joint theory. His daughter Mai undergoes a risky augmentation procedure to become the pilot of "Mighty," also known as "Magnetman Minus," while Takeshi Houjou pilots "Praise," or "Magnetman Plus." To activate the super robot Gakeen (short for "Gathering Keen"),the two pilots embrace, their bodies transforming into metallic plates that lock onto the robot's frame, allowing it to move and fight. The sequence, while functional, carried an almost sensual undertone that stood out to older viewers.
