Look Back

Ayumu Fujino is just a fourth grader, but her hand-drawn four-panel comics in the school newspaper earn her plenty of admiration. Everything changes when she’s asked to share the page with Kyoumoto-a quiet student she’s never met. Seeing Kyoumoto’s stunningly detailed artwork next to her own simple sketches leaves Fujino feeling painfully outmatched. For the next year, Fujino withdraws, pouring all her energy into studying manga and practicing her drawing, desperate to match her mysterious rival. But no matter how hard she tries, Kyoumoto’s skill remains untouchable, and Fujino eventually gives up entirely. Two years later, on graduation day, she finally meets Kyoumoto in person-a shy, awkward girl who stammers when she speaks. To Fujino’s surprise, Kyoumoto has been her biggest fan all along. Their meeting rekindles Fujino’s love for drawing and marks the start of a lifelong friendship, shaped by competition, mutual respect, and their shared passion for manga.
