Koujirou Shindou is a calm and logical government official, renowned for his skills as a negotiator. While boarding a flight for a business trip, a massive cube suddenly appears, swallowing his plane whole-yet leaving it unharmed-inside the strange, impervious structure. As Japanese authorities scramble to understand the cube’s nature and origins, Shindou meets an otherworldly being called Yaha-kui zaShunina, who takes the form of a human man. He reassures Shindou that the passengers are safe and asks for his assistance in negotiating with humanity. Yaha-kui zaShunina comes from a higher-dimensional realm named Novo and uses a cube called Kado to exchange information between his world and ours. Despite his incomprehensible powers, he shows no signs of aggression. Instead, he declares that his sole purpose here is to "advance" humanity-beginning with Japan.
