Giovanni's Island

Even in the midst of World War II, life on the small island north of Hokkaido where Junpei and Kanta Senou live remains peaceful. The brothers pass their days collecting eggs and pretending to be Giovanni and Campanella, the protagonists of their beloved book, "Night on the Galactic Railroad." But when the war ends, Soviet forces arrive to occupy the island. As tensions rise, the boys forge an unexpected friendship with Tanya, the daughter of a Soviet officer. Yet no matter how strong their bond grows, the carefree days of their childhood may already be lost.
