The Place Promised in Our Early Days

Hiroki Fujisawa and Takuya Shirakawa share two passions: their classmate Sayuri Sawatari and the enormous Ezo Tower, which looms impossibly tall across the Tsugaru Strait. Drawn to the unreachable structure, they start building a plane from a broken drone they found, calling it the Bella Ciela, hoping to one day reach the tower's peak. When Sayuri joins them, the three promise to fly to the top together-a place that feels almost like another world. But Japan is torn by conflict, split between the American-controlled South and the Soviet-occupied North, with the tower standing at the border. Years later, Sayuri vanishes without a trace, leaving Hiroki and Takuya in the dark. They don’t know she’s been in a coma all this time, struck by a mysterious sleeping sickness. When they finally learn the truth, they realize her condition is somehow tied to the very tower they once dreamed of reaching together.
