Midori-ko

Midori-Ko is a unique animated film by acclaimed Japanese director Kurosaka Keita, offering a surreal and unsettling take on a near-future Tokyo teetering toward collapse. Created entirely by hand with colored pencils over ten years, the film is a testament to Kurosaka's painstaking dedication. At its core, it follows a young woman determined to invent a miraculous food that could solve global hunger. Blending the delicate textures of Frederic Back's animation with the wild transformations of Bill Plympton and the eerie dreamscapes of David Lynch, Kurosaka crafts a vision that remains distinctly his own-strange, vivid, and unforgettable.
