Tsuneo Suzukawa is a university student who loves diving and dreams of studying marine biology abroad. To save up for his studies, he works multiple part-time jobs. One evening, a chance encounter leads him to meet a girl in a wheelchair named Kumiko-though she insists on being called "Josee." At first, Josee seems harsh and difficult, but Tsuneo agrees when her grandmother offers him a paid job as her caretaker. Though frustrated by Josee's demanding attitude, Tsuneo sticks with it for the extra money. Eventually, he tries to quit-until he learns about Josee's own dream: to explore the world beyond the confines of her disability. Moved by her longing for freedom, Tsuneo changes his mind and decides to help her experience life outside her small world. As they spend more time together, both begin to see how their differences might actually help them achieve what they truly want.
