Hotarubi no Mori e

Six-year-old Hotaru Takegawa spends her summer vacation at her grandfather’s house when she wanders into a forest said to be home to spirits. Lost and frightened, she cries out until a masked boy named Gin appears and offers to help. Relieved to see another person, Hotaru rushes toward him with open arms, but Gin pushes her away. He explains the terrible reason: a curse binds him, and if a human ever touches him, he will vanish forever. Though Gin warns her to stay away, Hotaru keeps coming back, and soon the two form a deep friendship despite his fragile condition. But as the years go by and their feelings deepen, they begin to wrestle with the cruel limits fate has placed between them.
