A young girl named Candice White was abandoned as a baby on the doorstep of the "Pony Home," an orphanage. The sisters there named her after a doll in her basket labeled "Candy" and gave her the last name "White" because of the snowstorm raging when they found her. Life at the orphanage is peaceful and cheerful-or as peaceful as it can be with Candy around, since she’s always causing mischief, climbing trees, and roughhousing with the other kids. But soon, tragedy starts to unfold.
