Summer Wars

OZ is a vast virtual world linked to the internet, where people use personalized avatars to socialize, play sports, shop, and more. Its popularity has made it a global hub, and its advanced encryption keeps users' data secure. Society has grown so reliant on OZ that even critical tasks-like retrieving the unmanned asteroid probe Arawashi-are entrusted to its systems. Kenji Koiso, a 17-year-old math prodigy and part-time OZ moderator, gets a surprise invitation from his crush, Natsuki Shinohara, to join her on a summer trip. What he doesn’t realize is that he’s expected to pretend to be her fiancé. Once they arrive at her family’s estate, where preparations are underway for her great-grandmother’s 90th birthday, Kenji receives a cryptic coded message on his phone from an unknown sender. He solves the puzzle easily, unaware that his skills have just triggered a threat that could endanger the entire planet.
