My Neighbor Totoro

In 1950s Japan, Tatsuo Kusakabe moves with his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, to the countryside to be near their mother, who is in the hospital with a long-term illness. As the girls adjust to rural life, Mei spots a small, rabbit-like creature in the yard one day. She follows it into the forest and discovers "Totoro," a large, magical forest spirit, whom she quickly befriends. Soon, Satsuki also meets Totoro, and the sisters' lives become filled with wonder as they explore the natural world and encounter the fantastical beings of the woods.
