High☆Speed!: Free! Starting Days

Haruka Nanase and Makoto Tachibana are beginning middle school, facing the usual challenges of growing up. Makoto adjusts well, getting along with classmates and staying enthusiastic about swimming, but Haruka struggles. His past difficulties with swimming make him reluctant to join the swim team or connect with others, leaving him unsure which club to choose. His classmates, including Makoto, feel similarly indecisive. After a disagreement pushes them to join the swim club anyway, the boys work to improve their skills, blend their different swimming styles, and sort through their complicated feelings about the sport and each other. With determination and natural ability, Haruka, Makoto, and their friends start to grow-both as swimmers and as people-during these early days of middle school.
