Mahjong is usually a casual game shared among friends and family, but it also thrives in the shadowy underworld. Nangou, a compulsive gambler drowning in over three million yen of debt, stakes his life in a final, desperate mahjong match against the mafia. Yet with every turn, he drifts further from victory and closer to ruin. Just as all seems lost, the game parlor is interrupted by Shigeru Akagi, a young fugitive fleeing the police. Nangou, seeing no other option, hastily teaches Akagi the basics and hands him the reins. The mafia watches with smug amusement as the boy takes his seat-but their confidence fades when they realize Akagi is no ordinary player. Born to gamble, fearless in the face of death, he carries himself like a force of nature. This is the beginning of a legend.
