At Akane Private Academy, students who remember their past lives train in the "Ancestral Arts" to fight monsters known as "Metaphysicals." These students, called "saviors," are divided into two groups: the "kurogane," who wield weapons using their prana, and the "kuroma," who use magic. The story opens six months before the series' climax, during the school's opening ceremony. After the event, the protagonist, Moroha Haimura, meets Satsuki Ranjou, a girl who claims she was his little sister in a past life where he was a heroic prince renowned for his swordsmanship. Later, he encounters Shizuno Urushibara, who reveals she knew him in another past life-this time as a dark lord who wielded destructive magic but saved her from slavery.
