Himari Kino is a bright, sociable girl who easily makes friends. On her first day of high school, she attends the freshman opening ceremony and is instantly smitten with Yori Asanagi, a quiet upperclassman, after seeing her perform with her band. Overwhelmed, Himari confesses her feelings right after the show-but Yori, who has little experience with romance, is caught off guard. Unsure how to respond, Yori turns to her friends and music for guidance. When she finally answers Himari, she learns that Himari was drawn to her performance and music, not to her as a person.
