When Will Ayumu Make His Move?

Ayumu Tanaka, a middle school kendo champion, enters high school with an unexpected plan-instead of joining the Kendo Club, he signs up for the unofficial Shogi Club. His reason is simple: he fell for the club’s president and only member, Urushi Yaotome, at first sight, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get closer to her. But Ayumu sets a condition for himself-he won’t confess his feelings until he can beat her in a fair shogi match. This proves to be a tough challenge, as Urushi is far more skilled at shogi and easily outplays his every move. Still, Ayumu doesn’t hold back from complimenting her looks, her talent, or even her smile-his blunt, deadpan delivery leaves Urushi flustered and blushing every time. As they play round after round, Ayumu slowly learns more about shogi and the girl across the board, inching closer to his goal, one piece at a time.
