Thermae Romae - S01

Lucius Modestus, a struggling Roman architect, has hit a creative slump and lost his job. His gloomy mood worries his friends, who take him to a bathhouse to relax. Overwhelmed by the noisy crowd, Lucius submerges his head underwater-only to discover a hidden passage that whisks him away to a modern Japanese bathhouse. The experience reignites his inspiration, giving him bold new ideas for his work. Armed with knowledge far beyond his time, Lucius attempts to recreate what he saw, though his limited resources often result in crude imitations. Yet, the sheer originality of his designs might just impress the people around him and restore his standing as an architect.
