The Ryuo's Work is Never Done! - S01

Shogi, a traditional Japanese board game resembling chess, is widely played across generations, from kids to seniors. A select few skilled players even turn professional. The highest honor in competitive shogi is the title of Ryuuou, or "dragon king," reserved for the absolute best. Yaichi Kuzuryuu recently became the youngest-ever Ryuuou after clinching the grand championship. Yet, the shogi world scoffs at his victory, with many dismissing him as the worst Ryuuou to hold the title. To make matters worse, he forgets his promise to coach Ai Hinatsuru, a young girl who sought his guidance if he won. When Ai shows up at his door, he grudgingly honors his word and takes her on as his apprentice. Now, the two push each other to grow stronger in shogi-Ai to discover her untapped potential, and Yaichi to silence his critics and prove he’s earned his place at the top.
