Akihiko Chuuzenji, a scholarly man who believes reason can explain all mysteries, becomes a Japanese teacher at Tokyo's Mitogawa High School. There, he meets Kanna Kusakabe, a cheerful but overly helpful girl who constantly gets herself into trouble. When Kanna hears rumors that a ghost has cursed a classmate to death, she sneaks into the school at night-only to discover the "ghost" is actually Akihiko. He’s been using a hidden room filled with forbidden books and doesn’t want the students to find out, so he spreads a rumor that Kanna exorcised the ghost herself. Now, much to Kanna’s frustration, her classmates see her as an occult expert and drag her into investigating strange, supposedly supernatural incidents. Despite Akihiko’s gruff personality, he steps in to help, determined to prove that logic-not superstition-holds the answers to these mysteries.
