The Heike Story - S01

The Taira clan, or Heike, wields great power over Japan. A young girl, cursed with a strange eye that glimpses the future, carelessly insults the clan, and her father is executed for her offense. By chance, Taira no Shigemori-the clan leader’s eldest son-later encounters the girl, who now goes by the name "Biwa." She warns him that the Heike’s ruin is near. Moved by the cruelty she endured, Shigemori promises to protect her rather than let her perish. Amid growing political strife, the Heike scheme for dominance, and war looms. Shigemori, who can see the spirits of the dead, fears for his clan’s fate yet clings to hope of averting disaster. Biwa hesitates to share the future with him, and as she adjusts to a life of fleeting joy and deep sorrow, both must navigate this turning point in Japan’s history.
