High schooler Haru Yoshioka feels stuck in a dull routine until she rescues Prince Lune of the Cat Kingdom from an oncoming truck. In return, the Cat King showers her with strange gifts and invites her to marry Lune. A miscommunication-due to Haru’s trouble understanding the cats-makes it seem like she agreed to the proposal. Desperate to get out of the situation, Haru hears a mysterious voice telling her to find the Cat Bureau. But before she can settle in there, a group of cats storms in and drags her off to the Cat Kingdom, taking one of the bureau’s members with them. Worried, Baron Humbert von Gikkingen, the bureau’s owner, chases after them. As Haru spends more time in the Cat Kingdom, she starts turning into a cat herself. She soon realizes that unless she can remember who she truly is, the change will be permanent. Her journey through this strange world forces her to confront herself, and by the end, she returns home with newfound confidence.
