The Case Study of Vanitas - S01

Vanitas and Noé Archiviste travel to Gévaudan, a town terrorized by the "Beast"-a massive wolf-like creature responsible for countless deaths. Believing it to be a cursed vampire, Vanitas intends to use his grimoire’s power to cure it. During their journey, the two are separated and inexplicably sent back in time, arriving just as the Beast prowls the woods. After a fierce battle with the monstrous wolf and a vampire hunter, Vanitas joins forces with Jeanne to locate Noé. Though they work together, their goals clash-Jeanne is under orders to kill the Beast, which she suspects may be someone from her past. Meanwhile, a badly injured Noé is found by Chloé d'Apchier, a forgotten vampire, and her servant. Like Noé, Chloé is a vampire whose existence has been erased from history. She once sought a way to become human again and now serves as a guardian for future generations. While Noé appreciates her kindness, he remains unaware that she may be allied with threats even deadlier than the Beast.
