Mayuri Shiina arrives at the Future Gadget Lab with a cognitive computing system-its interface a large pink Oopa toy-claiming it will help her and Kurisu Makise make fried chicken for everyone. Rintarou Okabe and Itaru "Daru" Hashida are skeptical, especially since they lack the right ingredients. Yet, with the Oopa's help, Mayuri and Kurisu manage to create a dish the whole lab enjoys. As time goes on, the cognitive computer proves useful in other ways. It helps Okabe and Kurisu patch things up after a disagreement and gathers feedback from the lab members to suggest upgrades for their workspace. Though Okabe might not fully appreciate it yet, the Oopa has quietly become an important part of the lab's daily life.
