Shibawanko's Spirit of Wa

This story is based on a Japanese children's book by Yoshie Kawaura. Shiba-wanko, a Shiba Inu dog, and Miike-nyanko, a calico cat, share a home in a traditional Japanese-style house with a tokonoma alcove. Shiba-wanko is kind and diligent, handling all the cleaning, laundry, and cooking. Miike-nyanko, on the other hand, is more temperamental and not much help with chores. Together, they learn about Japanese customs, such as how to properly welcome guests, prepare for the New Year, and appreciate wearing a kimono. Each chapter explores a different aspect of living with "Wa"-the spirit of peace and harmony-as they experience the seasons together.
