Before Chise was turned into the "ultimate weapon," there was Lieutenant Mizuki. A seasoned soldier, she volunteered for an experimental procedure after injuries ended her frontline career. As the first prototype weapon, Mizuki proved deadly in combat, but her potential was limited by her early role. When Chise-a reluctant recruit-is forced into the program, Mizuki dismisses her as foolish and unfit for the role. Yet as the only other person who underwent the procedure, Mizuki can hear Chise's thoughts, making her the sole person who truly understands her.
