Due to his own reckless choices and repeated defiance, Mokku faces relentless suffering. He endures bullying, humiliation, cruelty, and abuse, constantly tricked and mistreated by others. The story doesn’t shy away from the brutal reality of being an outcast in a dangerous world, reflecting traditional Japanese tales that use hardship to teach moral lessons. Through pain and perseverance, Mokku must learn to change-if he can survive long enough to do so.
