Ping Pong the Animation - S01

Makoto "Smile" Tsukimoto and Yutaka "Peco" Hoshino have been close friends since childhood, even though they couldn't be more different. Peco dreams of becoming the world's best ping-pong player, but his cocky attitude and habit of skipping practice frustrate his teammates at Katase High. Smile, on the other hand, has natural talent but refuses to play at full strength against others. Despite their differences, their shared love for the game keeps their friendship strong. When Peco learns a former Chinese national team player is visiting Japan, he takes Smile to spy on Tsujido High's team. There, Peco challenges Kong Wenge and suffers a crushing defeat. The loss shakes Peco's confidence, making him question why he even plays ping-pong. Meanwhile, Katase's coach sees Smile's potential and pushes him to stop holding back-but Smile only wants to play if it's fun. As both wrestle with their reasons for playing, tougher opponents-each with their own struggles-await them at the inter-high tournament, where only the strongest prevail. But when ambition takes over, the pursuit of victory reveals a harsh reality beneath the thrill of competition.
