The Bandai Channel website revealed that "Petit Eva ~Evangelion@School~," the first officially licensed super-deformed series based on "Neon Genesis Evangelion," will be adapted into video format. The full announcement will appear in the September issue of Japan’s "Newtype" magazine, available on August 10. This spinoff from the Gainax/Khara franchise takes a comedic approach, turning the original psychological sci-fi drama into a school-based parody. The story unfolds at Nerv School in Tokyo-3, led by Principal Gendō Ikari and teacher Misato. The students include three Rei "sisters," the EVA-01 mobile weapon reimagined as a troublemaking bully named Evanchō, and the doomed Jet Alone robot as JA-ko, a timid android girl who serves as a hidden character. Ryuusuke Hamamoto designed the characters, which have already inspired four-panel comedy manga in four magazines: "Monthly Shōnen Ace," "Newtype," "Dengeki Hobby Magazine," and "Figure Oh." The "Petit Eva" project has also spawned merchandise ranging from super-deformed figures to special-edition Doritos chips.
