Pecola is a young penguin who lost his parents and now lives with his grandfather, Pecolias, in the quiet coastal village of Cube Town. The town is small and remote, with a few landmarks like an art museum, a beach, a lighthouse marked with the number 36 above its door, and a canal. It sits next to Crescent Bay, nestled against the Rookery Mountains. Ships visit regularly, bringing mail, supplies, and sometimes tourists from the nearby big city, Cubic City. The land rises behind the town into Glacier Valley, where snow lingers even in summer.
