Neon Genesis Evangelion - S01

Fifteen years after a catastrophic disaster called the Second Impact, humanity faces another danger: massive beings known as Angels begin attacking Tokyo-3 one after another. No weapons or strategies can stop them. The only defense comes from NERV, a shadowy organization led by the distant Gendou Ikari, which fights the Angels using towering humanoid machines called "Evangelions," armed with cutting-edge technology and shielded by nearly impenetrable barriers. Shinji Ikari, Gendou’s 14-year-old son, returns to Tokyo-3 after years of abandonment. Struggling with deep emotional scars from his mother’s death and his father’s neglect, Shinji keeps others at a distance-until he meets Misato Katsuragi, a 29-year-old NERV officer whose warm, carefree nature gives him a sense of belonging he’s never known. When an Angel attacks, Gendou reveals his real reason for calling Shinji back: he is the only one who can effectively pilot Evangelion Unit-01, a machine uniquely attuned to him. Though the mental strain of piloting is overwhelming, Shinji fights to protect Tokyo-3, unaware of his father’s hidden agenda.
