Modest Heroes

"Kanini & Kanino" In a quiet forest stream, tiny human-like crabs make their home beneath the soft rustle of fairy wings. Siblings Kanini and Kanino live peacefully with their father while their mother is away on the surface to give birth. But when a violent storm sweeps their father downstream, the two set out to find him. Their journey is perilous, and danger lurks in the water-especially from a lurking piranha with an appetite for flesh. "Samurai Egg (Life Ain't Gonna Lose)" Shun, a young boy with a severe egg allergy, lies in a hospital bed, his body wracked by pain from even the smallest taste of eggs. His condition has haunted him since birth, and his reckless nature only makes things harder-for him and his exhausted mother, who fights tirelessly to keep him safe. Yet despite the ever-present threat of eggs around him, Shun gradually learns to navigate life without letting his allergy defeat him. "Toumei Ningen (Invisible)" An invisible man begins another ordinary day-dressing himself and strapping a fire extinguisher to his back to keep his weightless form from floating away. Though he moves through the world, no one truly sees him. That changes when, during a fierce storm, he meets a blind stranger whose kindness might finally give meaning to his lonely existence.
