Chisato Takatsukasa is a 35-year-old novelist who looks so young that people often mistake him for someone in his early twenties. His writing is deeply influenced by his idol, the reclusive best-selling mystery author Saki Shunka-a woman as enigmatic as the stories she creates. Despite his gentle appearance, Chisato is fiercely overprotective of his 15-year-old son, Riju. He’s convinced that every "friend" Riju brings home is just waiting for a chance to take advantage of him, so Chisato goes to absurd lengths to scare them off for good. No one tests his patience more than Shunsuke Sakaki, Riju’s stubborn best friend, who refuses to stay away no matter what Chisato does.
