After an earthquake destroys her family’s newly built home, Kotoko Aihara-a clumsy, underachieving high school junior-ends up living under the same roof as Naoki Irie, the top student in their school and possibly all of Japan. Kotoko isn’t a total stranger to Irie, but her past attempt to give him a love letter has already cemented her reputation in his eyes. With oddball friends and an interfering mother making things harder, Kotoko’s chances of winning Irie’s heart seem impossibly slim. Still, she clings to hope: now that they’re housemates, her long-standing crush on the genius might finally have a shot.
