Giant Killing - S01

East Tokyo United (ETU) has spent the last few years barely hanging on in Japan's top soccer league, scraping by just to avoid relegation. Their situation grows even worse as a five-game losing streak leaves the team's morale at rock bottom. Fans are starting to turn their backs, and whispers suggest the local government may pull its support. With a revolving door of coaches and questionable player signings draining their finances, ETU seems trapped in a hopeless decline. Under pressure from general manager Kousei Gotou, the board makes a risky move by hiring Takeshi Tatsumi as the new coach. Tatsumi, once a promising player who left ETU years ago, has since built a reputation managing an amateur team in England's lower divisions. His return isn't welcomed-fans still see him as a traitor, and ETU remains outmatched by wealthier, more skilled opponents. But Tatsumi insists he knows how to topple giants, and for a team with nothing left to lose, that might be enough.
