It featured a staggering 10 sexdecillion possible story branches, pushing realism to its limits-from NPCs that felt human to flawless sensory and physical replication. But soon, players found it too realistic, and interest in VRMMOs slowly faded. Now, high school student Hiroshi Yuuki escapes reality by diving into full-dive RPGs, a habit he developed after an accident years ago. When he can’t get the latest version of his favorite game, he wanders into a game shop and meets Reona Kisaragi, the charming clerk who persuades him to buy Kiwame Quest so they can play together. Hiroshi is amazed by the game’s lifelike quality at first, but his wonder fades fast as he triggers a chain of disasters, making the game even more brutal than his real-life struggles. Despite his growing frustration, he keeps logging back in. With no way to reset his dire situation, Hiroshi has only one option-beat the game!
