After losing her mother in an accident, 16-year-old Toaru moves in with her grandfather. When his house undergoes renovations, she can no longer stay there. Unwilling to trouble her family or friends, she claims she’ll find somewhere else to live-but instead, she secretly sets up a tent in the woods. One night, returning from work, she finds her tent destroyed by a landslide. Yuki Souma, the school’s "prince," and his cousin Shigure, a well-known writer, happen upon her and offer her a place to stay until her grandfather’s home is ready. At the Souma house, Toaru learns their family’s secret: if a member of the opposite sex embraces them, they briefly turn into an animal from the zodiac. But this isn’t just a quirky trait-it’s a cruel curse with a painful past. As Toaru encounters more of the Souma family, her kindness and resilience will be tested. Will she be ready for the truth hidden behind their doors?
