The story takes place in a world much like our own, but different. Pastel, an 18-year-old orphan, lives with a band of adventurers in a small home. She makes her living as a writer and "mapper," documenting towns, landscapes, rivers, and mountains through sketches and illustrations. Her friends deeply admire her for her sharp mind and unwavering honesty. Sharing the house with Pastel are Clay, a young swordsman; Trapp, the son of a bandit leader; Kitton, a walking encyclopedia and heir to the Kitton family; Knoll, a gentle giant; Whitey, a baby dragon; and Rumy, a child sorcerer from the "Elf" tribe. Together, this unusual group stumbles into all sorts of strange adventures-whether it’s hunting for treasure, tracking down a missing person, solving riddles, or facing countless other unexpected quests.
