One day, Nobita spots a stray dog struggling in the river while playing nearby. Pitying the poor animal, he sneaks it home by hiding it in a "kennel on the wall," naming it Ichi-a play on the word "one," since it sounds like "wan," the Japanese word for a dog’s bark. He secretly feeds Ichi and plays with him using a kendama. Later, he adopts another stray, a cat named Zubu ("wet" in Japanese, found during a rainstorm),and eventually takes in many more homeless animals. With so many pets to care for, Nobita and his friends decide to send them back in time-300 million years, to a lifeless world. They use the Ray of Evolution to help the animals operate a food-making machine before leaving, promising to return. The next day, when they try to visit, a time-space anomaly throws them off course, landing them 1,000 years earlier than planned. To their shock, the dogs and cats have evolved into a full-fledged civilization, rivaling even the advanced societies of the future. With their time machine broken, they search for help to fix it-only to discover a far greater problem: a swarm of asteroids is on a collision course with Earth. Will Nobita keep his promise and reunite with Ichi? And who is Hachi, the dog that looks just like him? Their adventure across 300 million years of time and space unfolds.
