Cardia Beckford's memories are foggy, but she remembers her father Isaac and the isolated home where she lives. The townspeople fear her as a monster because her body holds a deadly secret-a constantly beating heart called the Horologium, embedded in her chest by her father. This artifact grants limitless power but also curses her with a touch that corrodes everything. In London, many covet the Horologium, including the terrorist group Twilight, which Isaac may be linked to. When the British military captures Cardia to seize the artifact, she's rescued mid-transport by the thief Arsène Lupin, who vows to "steal her heart." Traveling with Lupin and his allies, Cardia sets out to uncover the truth about Isaac, her forgotten past, and the mysterious power inside her.
