Kanna Hayama, a sixth-grader who loves running, is heartbroken when she loses her mother, Yayoi-the person who shared this passion with her. But her grief takes an unexpected turn when she learns a startling secret about Yayoi’s past. One day, Kanna meets a divine messenger disguised as her pet rabbit, Shiro, and a demon boy named Yasha. They explain that her mother was an "Idaten," a descendant of the gods gifted with extraordinary speed. Yayoi’s duty was to gather offerings from across Japan and deliver them to the annual Kamiari Festival in Izumo. Now, as Yayoi’s daughter and the new bearer of the Idaten amulet, Kanna must take on this role-or risk disastrous consequences for the country’s future. Hoping to reunite with her mother at the gods’ gathering, Kanna agrees and sets off on the journey with Shiro and Yasha as her guides. What she doesn’t realize is that this race-like mission will push her not just physically, but emotionally, revealing challenges she never anticipated.
