Chiyo Mihama starts high school as one of the oddest students in her class-a ten-year-old genius who loves stuffed toys and home-cooked meals. But her homeroom teacher, Yukari Tanizaki, is the type to steal a student's bike just to dodge being late, so "odd" is all a matter of perspective. Yukari's class is full of eccentric girls. Alongside Chiyo are Tomo Takino, a hyperactive tomboy with more energy than sense; Koyomi Mizuhara, Tomo's quick-tempered best friend; and Sakaki, a tall, athletic girl whose tough appearance masks a kind heart-and an unfortunate weakness for cats. Then there's Ayumu Kasuga, a dreamy transfer student who fits right in with the others, especially with her strange fascination with Chiyo's pigtails. Together, these girls navigate the highs and lows of school life, their days packed with laughter, bizarre antics, and the occasional quiet moment that reminds them how fleeting these high school years really are.
