As sea levels rise dramatically, humanity struggles to survive on dwindling habitable land, forced to rely on old technology. Among those affected is Natsuki Ikaruga, a bright young graduate who lost a leg in a submarine accident and now lives a bleak existence on a nearly abandoned island. When Natsuki meets a mysterious woman named Catherine, he stumbles upon an advanced humanoid robot once owned by his grandmother, Nonko, a famous climatologist. The robot, named Atri, looks and acts like a young girl but has forgotten the important mission Nonko entrusted to her. Natsuki initially considers selling Atri, but the chance to reconnect with his grandmother’s work makes him reconsider. Having once given up his own dreams to join a prestigious scientific mission, he slowly opens up to the islanders around him and realizes he can still find purpose in a ruined world.
