Arata: The Legend - S01

Arata, a young nobleman in Amawakuni, assumes his life is his own-until news arrives that the princess is ill. Unknown to him, his grandmother registered him as female at birth, leaving him next in line for the throne in the matriarchal Hime clan. Forced to pose as a woman while a replacement is sought, Arata sees the princess attacked by her own guards, the 12 Shinsho. Framed for the crime, he flees to the Kando forest, a place rumored to change all who enter. At the same time in modern Japan, Arata Hinohara suffers under his classmates' bullying. Drawn by a voice calling his name, he steps into an alley and accidentally swaps places with the other Arata. Awakening as a "Sho"-a warrior who can wield divine weapons called Hayagami-Hinohara teams up with newfound allies to bring balance to this unfamiliar world.
