A Spirit of the Sun - S01

On August 10, 2002, the eruption of Mount Fuji and a series of devastating earthquakes and tsunamis leave Japan in ruins, plunging the nation into a state of emergency. Another massive earthquake strikes on August 15, splitting the country in two. As Japanese refugees are taken in by other nations, the Japanese government accepts aid from China and the United States-leading to China governing the northern half and the USA controlling the south. Fifteen years later, tensions rise between Japanese refugees living in Taiwan and the local Taiwanese population due to job competition and the refugees' worsening living conditions. Genichiro Ryu, a survivor of Japan's collapse, was raised in Taiwan by adoptive parents. He finds himself caught in the conflict between the two groups and strives to find a way for them to coexist peacefully.
