In an alternate version of the 21st century, robotics technology advances rapidly across the globe. By 2050, Japan has become the undisputed leader in robotic innovation and manufacturing, thanks to Daiwa Heavy Industries. As advancements extend to human robotic enhancements, the distinction between man and machine begins to fade, sparking a global backlash. In 2067, the U.N. imposes a sweeping ban on all further robotics research. Japan strongly opposes the decision but fails to stop it. Defiant, the nation withdraws from international affairs, isolating itself to focus on technological progress. Though trade continues, Japan vanishes from the global stage. A decade later, strange events prompt the American tech police agency SWORD to suspect Japan has secretly continued banned research through the RACE network. SWORD sends a team of agents to infiltrate the country and investigate. Among them is Vexille, an experienced operative who uncovers the terrifying reality behind Japan's decade of isolation.
