Unico in the Island of Magic

This animated film is based on "Unico and the Kingdom of the Sun," newly adapted for the theater. It follows the conflict between the wizard Kukuruku and Unico. Kukuruku constructs a castle using dolls-men he has transformed into building materials. The story explores the grief and fear of these men, now trapped as dolls, and a girl named Cherry, who hopes to restore her brother’s kindness after he becomes one of Kukuruku’s students. The film reflects on Osamu Tezuka’s recurring theme of "transformation," showing how it affects not just the body but also the human heart.
