The Tree In Sunlight - S01

In the mid-1800s, during the turbulent final years of the Tokugawa era, two young men cross paths in Edo’s Koishigawa. Manjiro Ibutani is a low-ranking samurai with exceptional swordsmanship and a rigid sense of honor, struggling to uphold the fading traditions of his class. Ryoan Tezuka, on the other hand, is a carefree but dedicated student of Western medicine, with a fondness for women and a passion for healing. Though opposites in temperament, their lives unfold against the backdrop of a changing Japan. The story is inspired by real figures-Tezuka was the great-grandfather of the famed manga artist Osamu Tezuka.
