The Gene of AI

In the near future, Humanoids-advanced machines with artificial intelligence and human-like personalities, identifiable by their sideways pupils-make up 10 percent of the population. These specialized beings require specialized care, and Dr. Hikaru Sudou is one of the few who can provide it. By day, he runs a clinic for Humanoids; by night, operating under the alias "Moggadeet," he performs illegal surgeries and searches for clues about his missing mother. Hikaru meets patients with problems unique to this world: a Humanoid grappling with whether she and the source of her backup data are the same person, a teenage Humanoid who can’t improve in sports no matter how hard she tries, and even a robotic teddy bear carrying memories of past owners. As technology advances, the line between human and Humanoid blurs, raising ever more complex questions about identity, consciousness, and what it truly means to be alive.
